The fastest hero in the universe is about to face his biggest race yet.

In Sonic the Hedgehog 4, peace in Green Hills is shattered when a surge of unstable Chaos Energy erupts across the planet, opening rifts that tear through time and space. Strange creatures, warped landscapes, and flickering portals appear everywhere — and at the center of it all is a mysterious signal calling out only to Sonic.

To stop the collapse of reality, Sonic reunites with Tails and Knuckles for a globe-spanning mission to uncover the source of the disturbance:

a hidden artifact known as The Chrono Emerald, a mythical counterpart to the Chaos Emeralds with the power to rewrite history.

But they’re not the only ones searching.

A new antagonist emerges — Shard, a sleek, silver, razor-fast being forged from corrupted Chaos energy. Faster than Sonic, smarter than Eggman, and capable of splitting himself into multiple forms, Shard threatens to fracture the world into infinite timelines unless Sonic can stop him.

And somewhere in the shadows… Dr. Eggman may not be as gone as everyone thinks.
