Raya and the Last Dragon 2 (2025)

Raya and the Last Dragon 2 (2025) continues the story of Raya, the fierce warrior princess from the land of Kumandra, who once again embarks on a perilous journey to protect her people and the mythical dragons that are key to the survival of her world. This sequel builds on the first film’s themes of trust, unity, and the struggle against overwhelming darkness, but takes the adventure to new places and deepens the characters’ emotional arcs.

Plot Overview:

Raya and the Last Dragon 2 picks up several years after the events of the first film, where Raya (voiced by Kelly Marie Tran) has successfully united the fractured lands of Kumandra and brought peace to the five tribes. The dragons, believed to be extinct, have been restored to their rightful place, and the world is flourishing once more. However, peace is fragile, and new threats soon emerge.

A mysterious new force, known as the Shadows of Divinity, begins to spread across the land, casting a dark cloud over the once-hopeful world. This new menace is unlike the previous Drunn — a more subtle and manipulative power that sows distrust and division among the people, threatening to tear apart the fragile unity Raya fought so hard to build.

In response to this looming danger, Raya embarks on a new quest to find the Last Dragon once again, this time with the goal of learning how to defeat this new, intangible threat. Alongside her are familiar faces, including her loyal companion Sisu (voiced by Awkwafina), and her friends from the first film, BounTongLittle Noi, and the mischievous baby, Raksha. Together, they must overcome their differences and work together to protect Kumandra from a dark force that threatens everything they’ve built.

However, the journey is not just about fighting an external enemy. As the darkness spreads, the characters face inner struggles, reconciling their past mistakes, fears, and insecurities. Raya’s leadership is tested as she tries to balance being the unifying force of the land with the personal challenges of staying true to herself. Her bond with Sisu, which has always been central to her growth, deepens further, with Sisu showing a more protective side while also struggling with her own sense of purpose.
